Saturday the 5th of December was the date for the 2009 Diving Officers Conference due to be held at the Two members from Mid Lancs SAC were due to receive their National Instructor awards at the conference, and another member had been asked to give a presentation on Operation Sunrise, two were feeling elated about the conference and one was feeling sick….
The day ended in a fantastic manor, as both Sophie Dyhouse and Jamie Heptonstall both received their National Instructor awards, and Sophie was the recipient of the Wilkinson Sword award for 2009 for the best overall performance for both the First Class Diver and National Instructor candidates. Well done Sophie – Big respect. Also, Andy Bennett was the recipient of The Expedition Award for 2009 from Max Rufford for Operation Sunrise. Andy is going to be leading a 2nd expedition to Gigha in 2010 to complete some “unfinished business” but is plotting something big for 2011 – watch this space. So all in all 5th December 2009 - I’ve seen worse days… Andy |
